Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad
Howard R. Brady was born September, 1853 to Peter H. and Margaret U. (Rameau) Brady in Whitewater,
Walworth County, Wisconsin. His parents were united in marriage on April 22, 1852. Howard's mother
Margaret, passed away on February 09, 1861 shortly after his brother George was born. His father Peter then
remarried on October 18, 1865 to
Harriet A. Wilkinson and they had one daughter, Anna.
Peter H. Brady removed to Plano, Illinois in 1865 to invest in his brother Jesse's fruit farm but his health
started failing and he returned to Whitewater where he died October 10, 1866.
Howard moved to
Little Rock, Kendall County, Illinois in 1867 to work at his Uncle Jesse's farm. Howard then
moved to Mendota, La Salle County, Illinois sometime after 1870 where he met
Edna C. Signor, the daughter of
Sidney and Mary L. (Percy) Signor, born July 14, 1849 in Chateaugay, Franklin County, New York. They were
married on September 11, 1873 in Mendota, La Salle County, Illinois. Howard and Edna had two children, Fred S,
born 1875 and Clara M, born 1877. In 1879 the Brady's moved to
Kansas City where Howard accepted a job
with the
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor. He held this position until around 1894 where he
moved back to
Mendota, La Salle County, Illinois to work as an engineer for one of the railroads running through
Mendota.
Howard Brady died in 1901 and his wife Edna Cecelia (Signor) Brady, died November 25, 1924, both
are buried at
Restland Cemetery in Mendota, La Salle County, Illinois.

George M Stevens was born September, 1835 to Oliver P. and Sarah R. Stevens. In 1850 he was living in
Brooklyn, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He met Charlotte A. Wilcox and they were married on
August 03, 1855 in
Cuyahoga County, Ohio. In
1860 they were living in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois where George was a brakeman
working on the railroad. In
1870 they had moved back to Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio and the family
consisted of three children, Horace M. born in 1856, Frank born in 1858 and Ida M. born in 1867. George took a
position as a conductor with the
Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad around 1876 and they moved to Topeka,
Shawnee County, Kansas. George remained at that capacity until around 1892-93, when he moved to Los
Angeles, California to work at the
Meek Baking Company as a salesman with his son, Horace. George had met
William Meek , who was a clerk for the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe in Topeka, Kansas from 1875-79.
Both Horace and George worked at
Meek's Wholesale Bakery but also had their own business which they
started in 1893-94,
Stevens Bros. Confectionery at 439 S. Spring and 276 S. Main in Los Angeles.
Charlotte A. Stevens died
January 23, 1902 and is buried in Angelus Rosedale Cemetery in
Los Angeles, California
