On July 8th, 1905, Mr. Walter Scott a miner, chartered a special Santa Fe train to run from Los
Angeles, California to Chicago Illinois in 46 hours. An almost impossible feat during this time period
My great grandfather, E J Engel a ticket agent for the Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe was present
at the Argentine, Kansas depot when the Scott Special stopped to switch.
Afterwards he was able to secure a copy of this historic event.
