After graduating from Argentine High School in 1908, George went to work for the Kansas City Structural Steel Company
as a blueprint boy. He worked his way up to draftsman by 1912 but retired in 1920 due to health reasons. After his
successful surgery in 1920, he went to work for Swift & Company, retiring in 1956.
